Antelope Island Visit (40 images)

Antelope island is the largest island on the Salt Lake and one of Utah's 22 state parks. From space it looks like alien terrain and from growing up on the East coast all my life it pretty much is.

Driving over where the Salt Lake used to be until it started receding

Who says Utah is far from the beach?

Even the resident black neck stilts are convinced it's the beach

Time to do some exploring on two wheels.

Sandy terrain to begin

Nice wide open trails that seemed to go on forever

Wild flowers lined the path

The bike needed a rest so I gave it a couple minutes to recover

Shade is tough to come by in the dessert and I welcomed the break from the sun

Every now and then a bench would be placed in the perfect spot

First man made thing I'd seen since I hit the trail from the parking lot

Some crazy guy out on a sail boat with no wind. He was in the same place the entire time

Now the fun part, back downhill

Buffalo corrals? There's buffalo here?

I guess so

It can't be called antelope island without these guys
