After meeting up with Matt at Deal’s Gap we tip-toed through the
dragon and headed towards Cumberland Falls, Kentucky

After 288 miles (453 for Matt) we rolled into camp leaving enough daylight
to setup tents and hit the camp store for some chow. Expecting to only find
marshmallows and chocolate we hit the jackpot with frozen steaks, chicken,
and potatoes. Not exactly roughing now are we.

We hit the road around 8am and headed Northwest through Indiana and Illinois.
Indiana surprised us with long rolling hills and a ton of beautiful farmland.
The morning was a nice ride but the gray clouds built up in the
afternoon and let loose on us through Indiana. The rain cleared up
and we made out way into Iowa to meet up with Chip and Mark.

Here’s a quick shot of our camp spot in Iowa, we were all eager to
hit the road so we rolled up camp and hit the road.

Iowa and Nebraska had some incredibly beautiful farmlands and corn
fields that went on for as far as you can see. I’ll include more pictures of
the farms in the complete ride report.

A new state for all of us.

A quick fast forward through the farmland and into the
vast landscape of South Dakota. This shot was just outside of our
campground in the Badlands.

Okay, okay, okay so I’ve done a really horrible job at posting daily ride reports. Between riding 700 mile days and spotty WiFi connections it’s been nearly impossible to update the site like I wanted to. Here’s the plan (the second one). Over the next week or two I am going to be posting short reports of our trip in chronological order. Then once I have more time (over the next month) I am going to try and put together a complete ride report with more pictures and details of what we saw and did.

Sorry for everyone that was checking the site every day, or every hour :) … it was to difficult to post while in remote areas and keep on pace with our route. So sit back, relax, there’s more up ahead…
